Are you ready for a new way of reading?
e-reading is a new way of reading, on digital carriers such as e-readers, netbooks, tablet PCs and smartphones. The e-reader, driven by the technological developments and changes in customer attitudes will quickly establish a position within the market. It is expected that there will something of a revolution in:
- the analogue paper world: those established parties associated with the paper book. They will be confronted by new business models, new technology and shifting patterns of interest.
- the digital world in which parties such as Google, software developers, mobile network operators, vendors of new reading apparatus and also local suppliers such as bol.com are active. The players in this world mostly have no experience with the paper book but recognise the opportunities for the digital book.
The two worlds will have to work together. At the same time there is an enormous feeling of tension among the differing interests.
